Independent Medical Examinations 

I provide legal services to medical malpractice and legal malpractice plaintiffs. I often represent plaintiffs who are referred to me from other attorneys, either in consultation with those attorneys or separately. In addition, attorneys will often consult me about their own medical malpractice cases, asking for help in investigating or formulating their case. In these circumstances, except for brief review and consultation (which I often do at no charge), I usually offer participation on a contingency fee basis.

From time to time, I provide medical expert evaluation and testimony. In these circumstances, the service is provided on a flat fee hourly rate. One of the services in expert medical evaluation involves independent medical examination. I usually perform this service at the request of an attorney who is representing the examinee in a personal injury or disability case. Because of my experience with Social Security law, I can provide focused exams and reports to aid in Social Security and other disability claims.

I am board-certified both in Emergency Medicine and by the American Board of Independent Medical Examiners. For this reason, I am uniquely qualified to examine those who are injured in auto accidents and in work settings.

In addition, I have substantial experience in the realm of chronic pain and in particular in explaining the presence of chronic pain in patients who have little in the way of objective medical findings, the so-called "biopsychosocial patient" or the "symptom magnification syndrome."  Pain is not usually faked and the numerous physicians who make a good living by denying its existence at the request of insurance are doing a disservice to the medical profession, to the people they examine and to the intellectual honesty that ought to underpin expert testimony.
