I perform Independent Medical Examinations for injured people, usually on referral from an attorney. These examinations are designed to determine what injuries a person has suffered, what the relationship of current and past symptoms is to those injuries and what degree of disability the person currently has. Independent Medical Examinations are used in personal injury cases, particularly auto accidents, in disability cases including Social Security and in workers' compensation cases. Independent Medical Examinations are conducted by appointment only and each usually lasts two hours. I do not offer treatment or diagnosis, but only an opinion on injury, causation and disability. I require a deposit of $800 prior to examination. This covers the cost of the examination and the written report, which is provided to the referring attorney and to the examinee. If testimony is involved subsequent to the examination, that is provided at $500/hour for trial and $475/hour for deposition.
